Travelling

For those of you arriving (or still considering if to arrive) from other cities, have a quick look at the information regarding train/bus connections and prices:

• From Berlin
  There’s a train connection operated by Deutsche Bahn (for fares please check http://www.bahn.de). Now you can purchase a discount ticket for €10 one way (more information here http://www.berlin-stettin-ticket.de) and the travel takes only 2 hours.
  You can also use shuttle busses operating from Berlin airports and city center (ZOO and Ostbahnhof) with a direct connection to Szczecin (for fares please check http://interglobus.pl). This connection is recommended for everyone planning to arrive to Berlin by plane and use bus/train to continue travelling to Szczecin.
• From Cologne
  There’s a train connection operated by Deutsche Bahn (for fares please check http://www.bahn.de). You can also purchase a discount ticket from Berlin to Szczecin for €10 one way (more information here http://www.berlin-stettin-ticket.de) and this travel takes 2 hours. You can also use shuttle busses operating from Berlin city center (ZOO and Ostbahnhof) with a direct connection to Szczecin (for fares please checkhttp://interglobus.pl).

• From Warsaw
  There’re plenty of connections (to be checked here http://rozklad-pkp.pl), with the cheapest InterREGIO trains among them for 52 zł one way (includingrecommended REGIOexpres with free wifi to work during a ride). It takes approx. 6 hours to get to Szczecin from Warsaw.

• From Poznan
  Also plenty of connections, and similarly as from Warsaw, with the cheapest InterREGIO trains among them for 37,50zł one way (including recommended REGIOexpres with free wifi). It takes only 2,5 hours to get to Szczecin from Poznan.

• From Tricity
  There’re a couple of direct, TLK trains for 53zł one way. It takes approx. 4,5 hours to get to Szczecin from Tricity.

• From Wroclaw
  Similarly like from Tricity, there’re a couple of direct, TLK trains for 57zł one way. The cheapest ticket though is 35,70zł one way for a REGIO train, though taking 8 hours to arrive… With direct TLK trains it takes approx. 5,5 hours to get to Szczecin from Wroclaw.

Startup Weekend is a 3-day workshop for those interested in creating e-business based on an innovative idea. It is an international format for events that take place every weekend in many cities in the world. Among the invited guests there are such names as David Noel from Soundcloud, James Digby of Idea72/Rockstart Accelerator or Alex Farcet from Startupbootcamp.

The purpose of this 54-hour workshop is to create the foundation of a startup, acquisition of new partners – developers, graphic designers or marketing specialists and verification of what the market thinks of our project – says Maciej Jankowski from Netcamp Foundation.

Registration for Startup Weekend Szczecin has just been launched, till the end of September you can buy tickets with 40%  discount on the http://www.startupweekend.pl. The organisers expect about 100 participants, mainly from the Poland and Germany – programmers, marketing specialists and graphic designers. Workshops will be held in English. Sponsors for the event are Microsoft BizSpark, Allegro and Startup Bootcamp.

Winners of the Startup Weekend will go to Spain for a whole month where they will be able to develop their project with the support of mentors and investors from the incubator Seed Rocket. The best startups will also receive valuable prizes from event partners as well as promotion in European media.

From Friday afternoon till Sunday night, participants will be working in teams and developing their ideas with the support of mentors from the Poland, Germany, Denmark and Spain. During the first day, introductions of the guest speakers and presentations of participants’ projects will be held. Each of the candidates will have 90 seconds to present the main idea of their project in a way convincing to other participants. Then teams will be created. For the project to be successfully chosen to be worked on over the weekend, inventor has to get at least 2 partners on board.

On Saturday, the teams proceed to work, prepare a project plan and begin to pursue it. At all times they may consult their ideas with mentors. On Sunday afternoon, teams will be accounted for their work and startups will be presented to the jury which will select the best project of this Startup Weekend Edition. Startup Weekends are weekend-long, hands-on experiences where entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs can find out if startup ideas are viable. On average, half of Startup Weekend’s attendees have technical backgrounds, the other half have business backgrounds.

Beginning with open mic pitches on Friday, attendees are encouraged to bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team. Over Saturday and Sunday teams design and develop business plans while constantly streamlining their startup vision. On Sunday evening teams demo their prototypes, listen to judges’ feedback and in some cities, win prizes.

Startup Weekends are specifically designed for entrepreneurs interested in receiving feedback on an idea, looking for a co-founder, or who want to learn a new skill. We also welcome anyone looking to test the entrepreneurial waters.
